How to create your wiki page
(NOTE: To see an example of a completed model page, go to UNIT I and see the entry for Bronze Age.)
Step 1 Get your topic
From the FrontPage, go to the Unit you have chosen (or been assigned). You will see a list of topics that you are required to know for this Unit. Find your specific topic, highlight it, right click it and select “copy.” This will be the title of your new page.
NOTE: Do not chose bold type headings for your topics, only specific content. For example, in section 11 from Unit I you would pick Bantu, Huns, Germans, or Polynesians, but NOT Movements of peoples as your topic. For example, you could pick the Bantus and write your article about their migrations (because that is the main subject of section 11.)
11. Movements of peoples
Bantu
Huns
Germans
Polynesians
Step 2 Create your page
Go to the “Create a page” link in the top right of the page. Right click in the “Name Your Page” box and paste your title in. Make sure the folder is correct (it should be the Unit of study that contains your topic) and click “Create Page.”
Step 3 Add content
Your blank page will open. Now add content according to the grading rubric. (you may want to paste this in from a Word document.) Click “Save” at the bottom of the page. Next, click the “edit tags” link on the bottom right hand side and list any concepts or terms from AP World History that relate to your topic, separated by a column.
Step 4 Link your page
Now go back to the Unit Menu. (You can get there from the FrontPage or from the list of links on the sidebar at the right.) You must be in “edit” mode, not “preview” (see tabs at the top.) Now highlight the text of your topic from the list of Unit topics, and click the link to your page on the right hand side.
SAVE your changes!
IMPORTANT: When you go to create or edit a page make sure you are not signed in under another student's username (email). You will not get credit for any work you do!
